Established in 2000

The Yoga Retreat was founded by Teresa and Kes Kennard, passionate yoga teachers who trained in Ashtanga under Paramaguru R.Sharath Jois, the grandson and student of the greatest Ashtanga master K. Pattabhi Jois, in Mysore, India. 

Kes received authorisation in March 2016 from his teacher R.Sharath Jois www.sharathyogacentre.com. He also gained 500 hours Advanced Ashtanga Vinyasa IIYA Yoga Alliance.

Teresa comes from a background of performing arts; she trained at Laban Center of Movement and Dance in London UK before changing direction on to her path of yoga & pilates. Her qualifications include a Diploma in Dance Theatre & Teaching, 200 hours Hatha Yoga BSYA and 500 hours Advanced Ashtanga Vinyasa IIYA Yoga Alliance. Teresa is also a Master/Teacher of Reiki & Seichem Tera-mai system of natural healing.

Together, they bring you their passion for teaching and practising, allowing them to live true to the yoga philosophy by bringing their wealth of knowledge of health and wellbeing to many students from all over the world, here in the island paradise of Koh Phangan, Thailand.

Answers to your frequently asked questions

You can take one of the many taxis, that are waiting at Thong Sala Pier. Usually they charge between 300 and 400 Baht. We are located in the west of the island in between the two beaches called Haad Salad (Salad Beach) and Mae Haad Beach. If you like, we can also order a private pick up. We just need to know the date and time and which boat you will be taking.

Yes, you can drop in. We prefer to welcome you to our Mysore Classes at 7:30 am. The Mysore style of asana practice is the way of teaching yoga as exercise within the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga tradition as taught by K. Pattabhi Jois. Otherwise we also offer a variety of Drop-In-Classes from Yin Yoga, Chakra Yoga and Pilates during the afternoon.
